Baca is looking for an proactive and passionate individual to join our team as an administrator to help us achieve our mission to see unaccompanied asylum seeking and trafficked young people become empowered with dignity, strength and hope, inspiring them to become change makers for good in the communities around them, in line with Baca's vision and values.They will have strong organisation and practical skills. They will be able to carry out a variety of day to day tasks across various teams and manage a wider variety of workload. They will be very approachable and enjoy working as part of a team and supporting others. The successful applicant will need access to transport as some of the role requires travel between the properties that Baca manage.

An enhanced DBS check will be required. The closing date for applications will be 25th of August 2019, with interviews planned the following week.

Residential Volunteer - Loughborough (Male)

Residential Volunteer (male) based in Loughborough

Baca is seeking a compassionate and proactive male Residential Volunteer to join our team. The successful volunteer will be a great role model for semi-independent unaccompanied asylum seeking boys aged 16 to 18.  The Residential Volunteer will seek to establish a safe, fun, caring and interdependent home with the boys in the house. They will be very approachable, supportive, keen to build relationships and be a strong team player. The successful applicant will have a personal style that is in line with Baca’s vision and values.

The role requires the individual to live in one of our properties and be a ‘big brother’ to the young people. Some of the benefits for the Residential Volunteer includes free rent, council tax, utilities and WiFi.

Our volunteers make a fantastic contribution to the work that we do and are highly valued. You will be supported in your role through an induction, training and ongoing support from our Volunteer Coordinator.

The role is appropriate for someone undertaking study or who has another job. An enhanced DBS (formerly CRB) check will be required.

Cambridgeshire Project Lead

Baca is looking for a committed and passionate individual who can take the lead in project managing the establishment of our young people’s service in Cambridgeshire. The young people supported by us are unaccompanied asylum seekers aged 16 to 18, some of whom are victims of trafficking. It is an exciting opportunity for the sucessful candidate to join a team that is passionate about the work and excels in what it does. They will also have the opportunity to bring in their experience to build on this work, bringing in new ideas to enable the development of Baca's service in a new location. 

The role is for fixed term of 2 years at 30 hours per week. 

The successful applicant will have the ability to ensure the project plan is followed in line with Baca’s vision, values and strategic goals. The role will require the successful candidate to complete an enhanced DBS check. The ability to travel across the UK when required, include overnight stays, is essential.

Waking Night Worker

Baca is looking for individuals who can join the support team and provide overnight supervision and care and be a role model for young people who are unaccompanied asylum seekers aged 16 to 18.  The role requires overnight supervision of different properties in Loughborough, ensuring the young people are safe and well and assisting with any needs that arise, liasing with the Baca on call management staff if required.  The successful applicants will be motivated and passionate about the work that Baca does and the young people in our care.  The successful applicant will need access to transport as the role requires visiting the young people in their homes. They will have a personal style that is in line with Baca’s vision and values. We are looking for individuals who are supportive, approachable, responsible, reliable and personable.

Residential Cover Volunteer

All Baca properties have Residential Volunteers who live in our houses alongside the young people we support.  To allow these Residential Volunteers the opportunity to have a break from this role and to have time away from the houses, Baca needs a bank of relief cover volunteers who we can call on to stay in the houses for one or several nights, depending on need and your availability. This role serves a vital function in supporting our holistic care of our young people. It provides an opportunity to build healthy friendships with young people from various different cultures, languages and backgrounds. Full training and induction is given and a full DBS check will be completed.

Trustee

We are looking to recruit creative and passionate individuals to join our strong trustee team to provide effective governance for the Baca Charity. Through our work we aim to see these young people empowered with dignity, strength and hope, inspiring them to become net contributors to society. 

We are looking for new trustees with a passion to serve vulnerable people and with skills and or experience in the following areas:

1. Property management / housing regulations / social housing.

2. Experience and understanding of national and local asylum policy.

3. Fundraising from individuals including the use of social media in fundraising.

Whether you are an experienced Trustee or wanting to take your first step at Board level, we would like to hear from you. An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role.
